Biography
Alf O. Brubakk is professor of Environmental Physiology at the Norwegiian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway. He is a medical doctor with a background in cardiology and anaesthesiology. Through his work on developing ultrasonic diagnostic equipment, he got interested in using this technology to detect gas bubbles formed during decompression.

Through over 20 years of study, he has contributed to the understanding of how these bubbles form and how they may injury the diver. He has furthermore worked on different aspects of environmental physiology, like effects of cold and space environment. He is one of the editors for the 5th edition of "The Physiology and Medicine of Diving"
