Biography
Dr. Reinhard Buchaly, born 18.1.1954 in Wuppertal, Germany, received his PhD
in Dentistry from the University of Dusseldorf in 1977 and since 1979, has
run his own dental practice in Germany.
Being involved in aviation and holding an ATPL (airline transport pilot license), he modified and flew aircraft for operation in remote areas of the world during the eighties.
Since the early nineties he is focused on technical diving. He designed and built equipment for cave exploration projects, like the RB 80 rebreather. In August 2003, he and his dive partner Michael Waldbrenner, both EKPP key divers, explored the Doux de Coly cave system in France to 5880 m (19291 feet), making this the longest European underwater cave penetration to date.
